NeurOptimal® Session
What to ExpectTo Begin
At your initial session, you will fill out a consent form and a brief questionnaire describing your concerns and the changes you’d like to experience. We will continue to reference these, every 10 sessions or so, so that we are able to measure improvement. Once the paper work is completed, you will sit back in a relaxing chair.
Next, two tiny sensors will be placed on your scalp and three clips on your ears using a conductive paste to send the electrical activity of your brain to the NeurOptimal® system. A small amplifier (zAmp) connected to the sensors and the equipment, facilitates the transmission of brain activity enabling the NeurOptimal® equipment to read the signals. You will be given a set of audio earphones to listen to the audio. (*Note: feel free to bring your own earbuds if you prefer). Once you are hooked up and comfortable, the session begins.
During the Session
Now it’s time to sit back and relax in a comfortable chair for 33-minutes. There is nothing invasive involved with the brain training process. You will be notified through an audible signal when the system detects “turbulence” in your brain. When the brain is performing optimally, the neurofeedback equipment plays music. When the brain’s activity becomes inconsistent, the music is interrupted momentarily (*it sounds a bit like a skip or pause in the music).
Because the system is reading your electrical activity constantly – 256 times per second, the brain is receiving real-time information it needs reorganize and function more optimally. All of the learning happens outside your conscious awareness. Continued training allows your brain function to naturally improve and become more resilient, helping you become more effective in your life. You feel calmer, clearer, happier and able to function better in your life.
